The Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS)
is a consortium of colleges and universities dedicated to providing quality
international education. KIIS is founded on the conviction that an international
experience should be part of the education of as many people as possible.

Deadline for Proposals
The Kentucky Institute for International Studies will begin accepting
proposals for courses to be taught in its 20 programs abroad during the
summer of 2007. Each spring, faculty from all of the KIIS consortium schools
are selected to teach courses in a wide variety of academic areas for
programs in the summer of the following year. Each program has a special
character or focus, and program descriptions are included on this section
of the website.
The major criteria for selection of courses are appropriateness to the
geographic site and the expected level of student interest. In general,
programs are five to six weeks in length, with a few lasting two to four
weeks. In most programs, each faculty member teaches two courses, and
has all living expenses paid. Faculty receive a round-trip airline ticket
with the group (or the equivalent) and a total per diem of $1,500 paid
prior to the departure of the program. Should independent travel be chosen
(instead of flying with the group) up to the amount of the group ticket
will be reimbursed after the close of the program. The application must
be submitted by the February 20, 2006 deadline. All applications must
be approved by the faculty's KIIS campus representative and his/her academic
supervisor. The final determination will be made by KIIS Board of Directors
on or about May 1, 2006 on the course proposals submitted by the deadline.
