EKU Scores Higher Than State, National Benchmarks on Many Areas of NSSE
Eastern Kentucky University’s emphasis on guiding its students to think critically and creatively and communicate effectively is taking root.
According to the 2012 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), EKU students scored well above their state counterparts and national benchmarks in several related areas.

EKU Ties for Fourth Place in Ethics Bowl
Eastern Kentucky University tied for fourth place at the 14th annual Central States Regional Ethics Bowl, held at Marian University on Saturday, Nov. 3.
Thirteen schools participated in the competition. Among the schools EKU outscored were Indiana University, Xavier University, the College of Mount St. Joseph and Wright State University. The champion was Taylor University.
EKU 7th in 24-Team Great American Mock Trial Invitational, Ahead of Two Ivy League Schools
Eastern Kentucky University placed seventh in the 24-team Great American Mock Trial Invitational Nov. 3-4 in Washington, D.C.
“Invitations to this tournament are highly coveted,” said Dr. Sara Zeigler, one of four coaches for the team, “and the conventional wisdom says that a top-ten finish (there) is similar to a top-ten finish at the National Championship.”
