Accounting Students Take First Place in Statewide Competition

Five Eastern Kentucky University accounting students brought home the first-place trophy from this year's statewide PEAK competition on April 26.

Hosted in Louisville and co-hosted by the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants (KYCPA) and Becker CPA Exam Review, the Jeopardy-style event is designed to Promote and Encourage Accounting in Kentucky (PEAK).

McDonald's Donates 500 Trees to Taylor Fork Ecological Area

The Taylor Fork Ecological Area on the south side of the Eastern Kentucky University campus received a recent boost from McDonald’s of Richmond.

McDonald’s donated 500 bur oaks to the University as part of the National Arbor Day celebration. Student and faculty volunteers were on hand to plant the trees on Thursday, April 17.

Higher education was hardly discussed in her Bullitt County home, though certainly the values of hard work and making one’s own breaks in life were instilled. The father retired as a machinist from Reynolds Metal Company, while Mom stayed home to raise eight girls and one boy, born only 15 years apart.

EKU's Lewis Wins National Slam Dunk Championship

Eastern Kentucky University senior Marcus Lewis won the Denny’s Slam Dunk Championship on ESPN Thursday night, April 3, at Southern Methodist University’s Moody Coliseum in Dallas, site of the 2014 Final Four.

Lewis defeated Cory Jefferson of Baylor in the finals.
