The comments Dr. Allen Ault heard from employment recruiters formed a familiar refrain, all centering on their need for creative and critical thinkers who are strong communicators with leadership skills.

So the dean of Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Justice & Safety determined that his students would possess those “essential elements of success.”

“I can’t always remember their names, but in my nightmares I can see their faces.”

That’s how Dr. Allen Ault, now dean of Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Justice & Safety, describes in Newsweek magazine his oversight of five executions when he served as the commissioner of the Georgia Department of Corrections from 1992 to 1995.

A 25,500-square-foot addition to the Stratton Building will accommodate the rapid growth of Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Justice & Safety.
