Capital Campaign
At Eastern Kentucky University, we are truly changing the trajectory of individual lives. Our students are not typically from families of privilege, and yet many have gone on to achieve great personal and often financial success.
This campaign is all about the students. It is about shoring up this great institution and providing it the resources to continue changing lives far into the future.
Simply put, we can't do it without you. Those who know Eastern best know the value of an Eastern education and the difference it can make to our students.
But no longer are we a state-supported institution. At best, we are state-assisted. And as the percentage of our operating costs covered by state funds has declined, our enrollment and other needs have increased. Without private donations to make up the difference and help build our endowment, that deficit can only fall on those who can least afford to bear it - the very students we are trying to help.
This campaign, the first comprehensive campaign ever in Eastern's history, seeks to raise $25 million within five main categories. A full 40 percent of funds raised are targeted directly toward student scholarships and enhancement opportunities. The remaining 60 percent will be divided equally among programs, faculty, campus improvements, and new initiatives.
