Dear Alumni and Friends,

As you may know, several years ago, in an effort to provide financial security for our great university, key volunteers and friends of Eastern came together to establish the Eastern Kentucky University Foundation. The Foundation’s charge, both then and now, clearly states:

The Foundation is organized, and shall be operated exclusively for the promotion and support of the educational, civic and charitable purposes of Eastern Kentucky University.

For more than forty years the Eastern Kentucky University Foundation, the entity designated by the University to manage all gifts, has been striving to secure financial support for Eastern’s students, faculty, programs, facilities and new initiatives. Of equal importance, the Foundation has and remains deeply committed to being good stewards of all gifts from all contributors; being steadfastly committed to both fulfilling the intent of the donor and meeting the considerable needs of the University.

Now is a pivotal time in the life of Eastern. Having, and continuing, to face difficult financial times while equally faced with the challenge of providing high quality educational opportunities for more and more students, the need for private financial support has never been greater. Securing much-needed annual support and continuing to build Eastern’s endowment are both paramount if Eastern is to continue to be a place of opportunity for countless students.

Gifts in support of Eastern can be structured to allow several types of tax advantages and income opportunities. I encourage you to speak with one of the professionals in Eastern’s Office of Advancement, as well as your professional advisor, to determine which option is best for you.

Eastern provided me with a life-changing educational opportunity, one that I am constantly thankful for. My Eastern experience opened the door to several successful careers, my wonderful marriage and a blessed life. Together we can continue to provide the same opportunities for countless Eastern students, now and in the future.
