We all have a story to tell about how we became a student at Eastern Kentucky University.
We came from different places… different families… different lifestyles.
We worked hard to put ourselves through school, even if it was just a few classes at a time, by getting a job or keeping a scholarship.
But no matter how different the paths that got us here…
WE’RE HERE… WE’RE GRADUATING… TOGETHER.
How we got here is different and what happens when we leave here will be different, but there is one thing that will always bind us –- WE ARE COLONELS. NOW AND FOREVER.
The only thing that changes is the role we play. We will soon be alumni… but what does that mean? As alumni of Eastern, we join 120,000 other people who have come before us. These individuals have been devoted and supportive of EKU and each one of us have benefited from their generosity.
Now it is time to follow their lead.
The Senior Challenge Program is our way of proclaiming to all those who came before us that we are ready to carry on the tradition of leadership and service to others. It's a way of giving back, a way of saying thank you and a way of symbolically making the transition from student to alumnus.
Most importantly, the Senior Challenge is a way of helping students on the extended campuses… Students whom, like many of us, need a little bit of assistance in their goal of a college degree. All gifts to the Senior Challenge will stay on the campus of origin and be awarded as book scholarships for a student enrolled the next year.
The program’s focus is on participation - making a gift, not the size of the gift, is what matters. We aren’t trying to raise millions, but we are trying to raise awareness on the importance of supporting your alma mater at whatever level you can. Please help us make a difference at the EKU extended campuses by saying, “Yes!” to the Senior Challenge. It starts with YOU!
