Steps for New International Students without college/university credit


Federal Immigration Regulations requires a student to declare a major before the student is admitted.

The following are the Admission requirements for New International Students:

  1. Complete the Application Form (pdf format).
  2. Mail in the Non-refundable application fee of $30.00 US.
  3. Send official TOEFL scores - minimum requirement 500 (paper based), 173 (computer based), or 61 (internet based).
  4. Have official Secondary School Record(s) mailed.
  5. Photocopies are not acceptable unless they are certified copies.
  6. Complete the Declaration and Certification of Finances form (pdf format). $22,880 must be guaranteed for each anticipated year of enrollment.
  7. Provide a letter from your bank which should support the Declaration and Certification of Finances.
  8. The ACT/ SAT exam is not required for admission. However, if you wish to be considered for reduced tuition costs based on your academic performance, you must submit an official copy of the SAT 1 results.
Steps for International Transfer Students from a college/university in the United States or overseas:

The following are the Admission requirements for New International Transfer Students:
  1. Complete the Application Form (pdf format).
  2. Mail in the Non-refundable application fee of $30.00 US.
  3. Send Official TOEFL scores - minimum requirement 500 (paper based), 173 (computer based), or 61 (internet based).
  4. Have Official College Transcript(s) mailed. *(Photocopies of academic documents are not considered official unless they carry an original signature and stamp of authorization from the issuing institution).
  5. University level courses taken at institutions outside of the U.S. must be evaluated by an outside agency (i.e. World Education Services (www.wes.org) or JSilny and Associates (www.jsilny.com). Questions regarding the process of foreign transcript evaluation may be directed to the Office of Admissions.
  6. Have Official Secondary School Record(s) mailed. *(Photocopies are not acceptable unless they are certified copies).

International students with previous college/university coursework and who are transferring into the University must meet EKU's transfer student Admissions Criteria.

Costs

Estimated costs for the 2009-2010 academic year are $22,880.00. This includes tuition, room and board, mandatory health insurance, fees and other miscellaneous expenses.

All International students will be required to take a free tuberculin skin test at the Student Health Clinic upon their arrival on campus.

Application Deadlines for International Students:

  • For Summer Session - April 1
  • For Fall Semester - June 1
  • For Spring Semester - November 1

International students who have completed course work at an accredited university outside the U.S. must present course work for possible transfer credit. Students must contact one of the credential evaluating services listed below for instructions on how to submit their official documents for evaluation.
