Arlington Head Golf Pro Qualifies for National Tournament

Patrick Williams, the head golf professional at Arlington, will compete in the 2013 PGA Professional National Championship in Sunriver, Ore., June 23-26.

Williams, who qualified for the event with his third-place finish (69-71) in the Kentucky PGA Section Championship at Kearney Hills in Lexington, is one of three Kentuckians (the other two are from Louisville) to make the field.

Of the 27,000 PGA members and apprentices who are eligible to qualify for the tournament, only approximately 300 golf professionals nationwide make the cut. The field will be trimmed to 70 after the first two rounds, and the top 20 finishers will be invited to compete in the PGA Championship in August, one of the PGA Tour’s four majors featuring the top names of the sport.

Williams, who played on EKU’s golf team and graduated in 2004, has been with Arlington for the past five years.
