Corbin, Manchester Campuses to Host Camps for Gifted, Talented Students

Eastern Kentucky University will conduct camps at its Corbin and Manchester campuses this summer for gifted and talented middle school students. The deadline to register for either camp is Friday, June 20.

EKU’s “Adventures in the Mind” (AIM) Gifted and Talented Camp will be held at the EKU Corbin Campus July 7-11 from 8:30 a.m. to noon daily. The program is designed for gifted/high-achieving middle school students in fifth, sixth and seventh grades during the 2013-2014 school year (rising sixth- , seventh- and eighth-graders). Sessions provide fun, hands-on learning activities that go beyond the typical classroom experience and include “Engineering with an Engineer” and “Art Processes.”

EKU’s “The Next Generation” Gifted and Talented Camp will be held at the EKU Manchester Campus July 7-9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The three-day learning experience will offer sessions in math, science, art and health. The Manchester camp is also designed for rising sixth- through eighth-grade students.
