If you were watching a recent “60 Minutes” segment on CBS-TV closely, you might have noticed the name of an Eastern Kentucky University faculty member atop a report produced by what the show called the nation’s “top five fire experts.”

Greg Gorbett, associate professor of Safety, Security and Emergency Management at EKU, was part of an investigative team that looked into the causes of the Pioneer Hotel fire, a 1970 blaze in Tucson, Ariz., that killed 28 and resulted in the conviction and imprisonment of 16-year-old Louis Taylor. Earlier this month, in light of the new evidence, Taylor was set free.

The “60 Minutes” segment, which aired on March 31, can be seen at www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50143935n.

Before joining the EKU faculty, Gorbett spent seven years working as a private consultant in the fire, arson and explosion investigation profession.
