EKU Hosts 51st Summer Creative Writing Conference

Participants can immerse themselves in creative writing at the 51st Summer Creative Writing Conference at Eastern Kentucky University.

The annual event, June 3-7, is open to the public, and EKU students have the option of earning undergraduate or graduate credit. Each conference attendee will participate in morning craft lectures and writing exercises. Further feedback on each participant’s manuscript is provided in afternoon, one-on-one mentoring sessions.

This year’s conference features a stellar list of visiting writers, including Katerina Stoykova-Klemer and Jason Howard. EKU creative writing faculty participants include Derek Nikitas and Conference Director Young Smith. Evenings feature dinners with, and readings by, visiting writers and conference faculty.

To learn more about the conference, how to register, and other details, visit english.eku.edu or request a brochure by email at young.smith@eku.edu. Non-credit tuition is $190 for the week, and on-campus housing is available. Participants are required to submit a manuscript of their writing by May 1. Students and non-students are welcome; the conference tuition is free for those 65 or older.

The Summer Creative Writing Conference is sponsored by Bluegrass Writers Studio and EKU’s Department of English & Theatre.
