Dr. Jacquelyn W. Jensen, Hazel Wilson Endowed Chair and professor of family and consumer sciences education at Eastern Kentucky University, is the new editor for the Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences Education(JFCSE).

The Journal, which facilitates communication among members of the family and consumer sciences education community, publishes original research, literature reviews, conceptual and theoretical essays, position papers, and reports of innovative practice in all areas of education for family and individual well-being. Manuscripts include implications for family and consumer sciences educators and researchers.

Jensen’s research projects include college students’ learning to deliberate ethical dilemmas, applications of constructivism and assessment of students’ prior knowledge, a lesson on fluid status and dehydration in an advanced medical nutrition therapy course, and middle and high school teachers’ applications of learning theory.

At heart, she says, she is a classroom researcher.

Jensen has been guest editor for an issue of Kappa Omicron Nu Forumon “Constructivist Applications” and has reviewed a vast number of journal manuscripts and conference proposals, as well as given many research and workshop presentations.

Prior to working on a doctoral degree at the University of Utah, Jensen completed five years of middle and high school teaching in family and consumer sciences. Her dissertation, which won two national awards, focused on student learning in a family and consumer sciences teaching methods course.
