EKU Signs AASCU-APLU "Commitment to the Future"

Eastern Kentucky University is among more than 460 public colleges and universities to sign on to a joint statement entitled “A Commitment to the Future,” from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU).

The signees pledge to work to boost degree attainment nationwide to 60 percent by awarding an additional 3.8 million baccalaureate degrees between now and 2025 while striving to provide those students with a quality education. The commitment includes pledges to reduce time to degree, enhance academic quality and contain per-student educational costs. It also calls for a renewed partnership among public colleges and universities, the states and the federal government.

“This joint ‘Commitment to the Future’ is a perfect fit with our student success and regional stewardship mission components,” EKU President Doug Whitlock said. “We are determined to increase our degree productivity and to continually improving the quality of our programs.”
