EKU Sponsors Leadership Work Study Tour to Asheville
Community leaders and others throughout Eastern Kentucky University’s 22-county service area are invited to participate in a Leadership Work Study Tour to Asheville, N.C., Sept. 16-18.
Eastern Kentucky University’s Center for Appalachian Regional Engagement and Stewardship (CARES) is organizing the three-day event to help participants learn about sustainability practices in tourism, environment, entrepreneurship and education. Industry experts in the Asheville area will provide best-practice examples that can be implemented in the participants’ own communities.
Following the Leadership Work Study Tour, EKU regional outreach agents will work side-by-side with communities to help them develop an implementation plan to include a timeline and action steps to put their ideas to work.
The counties in EKU’s service region are: Madison, Garrard, Estill, Powell, Lee, Boyle, Casey, Lincoln, Rockcastle, Jackson, Owsley, Pulaski, Laurel, Clay, Perry, Leslie, Harlan, Bell, Knox, Whitley, McCreary and Wayne.
EKU is partnering with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and Community Trust Bank for the tour.
The cost is $375 for double room occupancy and $395 for single room occupancy. The deadline for registration is Aug. 29. To register, contact Justina Keathley at 859-622-6168.
