EKU Theatre to Present "Urinetown"
Tickets for the Eastern Kentucky University Theatre production of “Urinetown” will go on sale Monday, Feb. 17.
Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 26, the show will run 8 p.m. nightly through Saturday, March 1, with a matinee showing Sunday, March 2, at 2 p.m., in Gifford Theatre in the Jane F. Campbell Building.
“Urinetown” is a satire inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. The new musical is set in a Gotham-like city ravaged by a 20-year drought. Water is worth its weight in gold, and all private toilets are banned. A large corporation regulates the public amenities, charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a young hero decides he has had enough and incites a revolution to lead them to freedom in this comedy.
“Urinetown” is most appropriate for ages 13 and older.
Tickets will be available at the Gifford Theatre Box Office, open noon-4 p.m. on weekdays, 7-7:50 p.m. on performance nights and 1-1:50 p.m. for the Sunday matinee. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. Cash or checks payable to EKU are the only payment options. Call 859-622-1323 for reservations or visit www.theatre.eku.edu for more information.
