Faculty Woodwind Quintet Invited to Perform at International Conference
The Madison Winds, Eastern Kentucky University’s faculty woodwind quintet, has been invited to perform at the International Clarinet Association Conference on July 30 in Baton Rouge, La.
The group, chosen to perform through a juried selection process with more than 200 applications, will perform the Sextet for piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn by Francis Poulenc.
The piece will also be presented April 28 as part of The Madison Winds’ recital in Gifford Theatre at 7:30 p.m. The quintet will also perform Johannes Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Haydn, arranged by Connie Ignatiou, and Westerly Winds by Paul Patterson.
Members of the Madison Winds include EKU music professors Kristen Kean, flute; Connie Ignatiou, oboe; Connie Rhoades, clarinet; Christine Carucci, bassoon; and Mick Sehmann, horn. Alexis Ignatiou, piano, will join the Madison Winds for the Poulenc Sextet.
The recital on April 28 is free and open to the public.
