Giles Gallery to Host Civil War Juried Exhibition

Eastern Kentucky University’s Department of Art and Design will present the “Reverberations of the Civil War Juried Exhibition” in conjunction with the observance of the Civil War sesquicentennial, “Shadows of Blue and Gray: The Civil War in Kentucky.”

The exhibition will run Oct. 1 through Oct. 26 in the upper gallery of the Giles Gallery in the Jane F. Campbell Building.

An opening reception will be held Oct. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring the father-daughter duo Louie and Callie Northern playing music of the era.

The exhibit includes including paintings, photographs, sculpture and drawings by 18 students, faculty members and alumni, all exploring the myriad ways the Civil War has impacted American culture.

Gallery events are free and open to the public. Group tours are welcome. For Gallery hours, call 859-622-8135.
