Graduate Student Performing with Cincinnati Vocal Arts Ensemble

Eastern Kentucky University choral conducting graduate assistant Hannah Draper Burnett, formerly of Stamping Ground, will perform as a member of VAE: Cincinnati’s Vocal Arts Ensemble when the group presents Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “All Night Vespers” on Feb. 15 and 16.

VAE will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cincinnati and the following day at 3 p.m. at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington.

The professional chamber choir is led by internationally acclaimed conductor and composer Craig Hella Johnson, who is also founder and artistic director of the Grammy-nominated ensemble Conspirare, based in Austin, Texas.

VAE, founded in 1979, offers an annual subscription series of distinguished choral programs in notable architectural and acoustic venues throughout the Cincinnati area and produces outreach programs for children, youth and seniors.

The group’s achievements over 30 seasons include two ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Awards for "Adventuresome Programming of Contemporary Music," broadcasts on 220 National Public Radio stations through "The First Art," performances before conventions of the American Choral Directors Association in San Antonio and Chicago, and appearances with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and May Festival.
