Grayson, Carloftis to Receive Honorary Degrees at Fall Commencement
Eastern Kentucky University will recognize 1,424 degree candidates and award honorary degrees to Trey Grayson and Jon Carloftis at its annual Fall Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The first ceremony, at 9 a.m., will honor degree candidates from the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Health Sciences. The second ceremony, at 2:30 p.m., will recognize candidates from the Colleges of Business & Technology, Education and Justice & Safety. Both ceremonies will be held in Alumni Coliseum and are open to the public.
Grayson, president and CEO of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and former Kentucky Secretary of State, will speak at the morning ceremony and receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. Carloftis, award-winning garden designer and author, will speak at the afternoon ceremony and receive an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree.
Speaking as representatives of their graduating classes in the morning and afternoon ceremonies, respectively, will be Erica Childress, who’s graduating with a master’s of public administration degree, and Doris Crawford, who’s receiving a doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy studies.
Together, the two ceremonies will honor 92 associate degree candidates, 1,033 bachelor’s degree candidates, 285 master’s degree candidates, 1 specialist degree candidate and 13 doctoral degree candidates.
