U.S. News: Online Master's Program in Education Ranks among Nation's Best
Eastern Kentucky University is home to one of the top 10 online graduate education programs in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report.
In its 2013 rankings for “Best Online Programs,” U.S. News reviewed 208 schools offering online graduate education programs and placed EKU in the top tier with a No. 10 ranking.
The online education master’s program also ranked first in its category in the inaugural U.S. News rankings of “Best Online Programs for Veterans” earlier this year.
EKU’s College of Education offers online graduate study in elementary education, learning and behavior disorders, educational leadership, library science and safety and facilities management. The University also offers an online certification option in learning and behavior disorders.
EKU Online students connect with faculty and classmates through tools such as video lectures, podcasts and discussion boards; participate in a core curriculum focused on preparing teachers as leaders; and engage in assignments and action research to build critical thinking skills.
“We are honored to be recognized among the best online programs in the country,” said Dr. Verna Lowe, dean of the EKU College of Education. Lowe credited the entire college as well as her predecessor, Dr. Bill Phillips, for the accomplishment. “The faculty and staff are student-centered and dedicated to providing personalized attention and support.”
