Web Site Recognized Nationally for Redesign
Eastern Kentucky University’s Web site (www.eku.edu) has been honored for Best Redesign-People’s Choice by eduStyle, a Web design gallery that showcases exemplary college and university web design.
More than 900 sites were submitted for awards in 19 categories. Members of the eduStyle “community” voted for the winners. More than 10,000 visit the eduStyle site each month.
Doug Cornett, manager of creative services within the Division of Information Technology, said: “The EKU Web presence represents a modern and simple design that strives to provide a pleasant and productive user experience. EKU is now positioned among other colleges and universities as a technology leader that takes its web presence seriously and is also an institution that recognizes the power of the Web and technology as a center point of responsible recruitment and retention communication efforts.”
The award is a credit to the “multitude of very talented employees in all areas of our campus,” Cornett added. “With the Web effort, our goal is to put the right people with the right talent into critical areas of creation and upkeep of the web regardless of department or office. This is truly a model for campus-wide collaboration. What began as a shared vision by Enrollment Management and Information Technology of a modern, student-focused Web site has become a unified vision that is growing with the support of our senior-level leadership and an initiative that matures with the participation of critical members from areas like Public Relations, Media Production and Student Advising, plus invaluable input from almost every area of our campus, both academic and administrative.”
