Zeigler Named Dean of University Programs
Dr. Sara Zeigler has been named Dean of University Programs at Eastern Kentucky University.
Zeigler, professor of political science at EKU since 2007, has served as Interim Dean of University Programs for the past year and director of the University’s nationally recognized Mock Trial program since 1998. She joined the EKU faculty in 1996 and served as chair of the Department of Government from 2006 to 2010 and director of Women’s Studies from 2002 to 2005.
“I am honored to have been selected as Dean of University Programs,” Zeigler said. “I have greatly enjoyed my year as Interim Dean and have appreciated the opportunity to work with a diverse group of passionate, energetic directors and coordinators on initiatives that enhance student success, serve the region, and promote excellence across the institution. I look forward to continued collaboration with those accomplished professionals and with the campus community.”
Zeigler, who has published numerous articles on gender issues and political theory, has served as president of the American Mock Trial Association and as tournament director for the National Mock Trial Tournament.
She holds a baccalaureate degree from Reed College in Portland, Ore., and master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Los Angeles.
“As interim dean, Dr. Zeigler has worked collaboratively to support University Programs,” EKU Provost Janna Vice said. “She has an excellent record of teaching, scholarship, and service and will make an important contribution as a dean. We look forward to continuing to work with her in her role as Dean.”
