For Blackboard instructors: How to manage your list of courses
1.
How
to make courses “Available” to your students
Inside
the Control Panel, at the bottom left, open Settings—Course Availability and
change the setting from “No” to “Yes,” and then click Submit.
2.
How to change course names (as displayed
on the list of courses)
Inside the Control Panel, open Course Settings—Course Properties. Make changes
to the Course Name and Description as you desire. (The “Description” is rarely
seen by anyone.) If there is no Subject Area selected for your course, you
must choose one before you can complete your work by clicking Submit. Note:
if there are other instructors in the course, please consult each other about
changing the course name.
3.
How
to shorten your list of courses or get courses removed
Get to know the "pencil" icon on the top bar of the "My Courses"
list. It leads to a window where you can decide which courses are actually
displayed on the list. This makes it very convenient to put aside a course
for a while and then bring it back to the list.
If your full list of courses includes some that you no longer want at all,
send a list of the ones you want removed to onlinelearning@eku.edu.
4.
How to change the order of your courses
Your courses are sorted alphabetically by the course name, which you can change
through the Control Panel-Course Settings-Course Properties. Be sure to give
your courses meaningful titles, and always include an ordinary semester label,
like “Fall 05.” If you see a course that you may need again but do not currently
use, you can adjust its sequence within your list of courses by changing its
title. For example, prefixing a “Z” to the course title forces that course
to the bottom of your list. Note: if there are other instructors in the course,
please consult each other about changing the course name.
5.
How to get other courses listed (i.e., get missing
courses)
If you do not see Blackboard sites for your courses, contact onlinelearning@eku.edu so that we can
help you. Our system reflects Banner’s data which is sometimes incomplete or
not current.
6.
How to get out of “Courses in which you are participating”
If you see courses listed for your “participation,” it means that you
have “student” status there. To get such courses off your list, contact the
relevant instructor.
