This 3-credit general education course is designed to address 4 specific units of instruction: 1) Foundations of Human Communication; 2) Interpersonal Communication; 3) Public Speaking, and 4) Small Group Communication. Practice in the development and in-depth discussion of these areas is required.

This class is very fast-paced and will require your time DAILY, including some weekends. Do not sign up for this class if you cannot devote time to daily readings, assignments, and participation in online discussion groups.
This class is an 8 week, partial term class, and is VERY fast paced. Dates of class are January 11-March 5, 2010.

Required Online Chat; Times, Dates and frequency of Online Chat Sessions: This class is an 8 week class. It ends March 5th. Daily discussion boards will be required, but we don't all "meet" at one time to chat together. You can post at your convenience.
On-Campus or ITV(KTLN) meetings: Times, Dates: Online exams will be taken on Blackboard. There will also be discussion groups daily in Blackboard.
Special conditions for tests such as designated locations or proctors: There will be a meeting on campus the first week of school. Location and time of meeting is TBA. Part of this course requires that enrolled students deliver informative speeches. Students in this particular section of CMS 100 HAVE THE OPTION of coming to campus to deliver their speeches (easier to do) or sending in a tape of speeches (doable, but more challenging because of equipment and audience requirement issues). Dates for on campus speeches will be available during the course.
Printed Textbooks: "Communication: Principles for a Lifetime" CUSTOMIZED edition available only at EKU bookstore. You are required to purchase a BRAND NEW book for this course, as used textbooks do not come wtih access to MySpeechLab technology that we will be using for this course. Be sure to purchase the new, shrinkwrapped text that has a copy of the MySpeechLab access code inside it.
Required Software: You are required to use MySpeechLab, a restricted-access website. When you purchase your book at the EKU bookstore, the access code for this website will come with it. Acess to high-speed internet is also required.
