Course Title: Introduction to Technical and Professional Writing
Course Section Information: This course is 100% online, but you must be able to meet from 6-8 pm on Tuesday nights for online chat (which you can access from anywhere with an internet connection). This is a writing course where you will learn to write professional documents, such as business letters, memos, cover letters, and resumes. You will also learn to write some basic technical documents, such as mechanical definitions, basic instructions, and a formal report. In addition to covering content and language issues, the course will also cover the principles of document design, the importance of audience analysis, and strategies for implementing the most effective persuasive strategies.

You will be required to participate in 2 hours of online chat each week from 6-8 pm on Tuesday nights. You MUST be able to attend the online chat in order to enroll in the class.

This book is available online and at the EKU bookstore.
 Required Software:
You will need access to a document program (usually MS Word) and a slide presentation program (usually MS Powerpoint). Although I do not require you to use Microsoft software, you must submit your written documents in the .pdf format, and your presentation files in either .ppt (MS Powerpoint) or .keynote (Apple Keynote). You will also need to install Adobe Reader (a free application) on your computer.
