Animal Friendships
Everyone is invited to join us on selected Friday afternoons for an hour of moderated conversation over a topic -- selected by EKU faculty -- related to this year's EKU READS book selection "Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat."
This Friday, Dr. Neil Wright, referring to Chapters 1 and 4 of the EKU READS book, will raise questions for discussion such as: What is the difference between ownership or management of an animal and friendship with the animal? Are they contradictory relations—does friendship rule out “use”? What does friendship actually mean? Are animal friendships better in some ways than human friendships tend to be? Are animal feelings similar to our own? Are animal friendships altruistic or merely symbiotic? Event Date: November 16 2:30-3:30 Location: Crabbe Library 204G Cost: free
