Media Tool Celebrates, Publicizes Student Success
EKU recently began using readMedia to publicize student achievements. Students receive recognition when they are named to an academic or leadership position, join a campus group, volunteer in the community, study abroad, make the dean’s list, earn a scholarship or other honor, and many more activities. Stories are sent to each student’s hometown newspaper for publication, and an online profile is created at readabout.me that can be used for jobs, internships, and references after graduation.
More than 70 colleges and universities currently use the readMedia service, including Miami (Ohio), Clemson, Purdue and Northern Kentucky Universities.
Students are informed of the announcement through EKU e-mail and encouraged to share the stories with family and friends through social media such as Facebook.
To opt out of the program, reply to the email from readabout.me and ask to be removed, or email a request to publicrelations@eku.edu. This means that stories won’t be sent to hometown newspapers or added to a readabout.me profile.
