CHAUTAUQUA: Lecture by Dr. Michael Dawson Canceled, Art Exhibit Continued

A previously scheduled Chautauqua lecture by Dr. Michael Dawson, John D. MacArthur Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago, on Thursday, Feb. 7, has been canceled because of the speaker’s illness.

The event, which also was to serve as the keynote address for the University’s celebration of Black History Month, has not yet been rescheduled.

The juried art exhibition at the Giles Gallery examining the “Crossroads” theme of this year’s Chautauqua series remains on display through Feb. 22, with a reception scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31, 5-7 p.m. in the gallery.

All Giles Gallery events are free and open to the public.

Dr. Lee Alan Dugatkin, Professor and Distinguished University Scholar in the Department of Biology at the University of Louisville, will deliver the next Chautauqua lecture on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in O’Donnell Hall of the Student Success Building.
