RECYCLEMANIA: Week 2 Focus on PLASTIC
Did you know:
• the average American uses 167 disposable water bottles, but only recycles 38—making plastic bottles one of the least recycled materials (see banthebottle.net)
• it takes 3 liters of water to manufacture a 1-liter plastic bottle
AND, did you know that:
• EKU has seven “HYDRATION STATIONS” where you can refill your own bottle FOR FREE! They are located in SSB, the Library, Powell, Wallace, Combs, and the Wellness Center.
• EKU RECYCLES plastic bottles! Look for marked “Bottles and Cans” containers in the hallways of all classroom and office buildings on campus, and marked outdoor containers!
RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities that runs thru March 30th.
