Find out how you can help the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee send EKU Veterans to the OVC Basketball Tournament in March as part of the Hoops for Heroes project. An information booth will be set up in the concourse of Alumni Coliseum at the January 24th Men’s Basketball game beginning at 6pm. Stop by to meet our SAAC members and see the Veterans recognized at half-time of the basketball game!

EKU's music department will host Terah Abney in her Senior French Horn recital tonight at 8pm in the Gifford Theater. Free and open to the public.

Author and humanitarian Mike Kim will present “North Korea-China: A Modern Day Underground Railroad” on Thursday, January 24 at 7:30 pm in O’Donnell Hall of the Student Success Building.

Kim will tell the story of how he left his financial business in Chicago, moved to the China-North Korean border, and began to operate undercover as a student of taekwondo while leading North Korean refugees to safety via a 6,000-mile underground railroad that led from Pyongyang to Bangkok.

Kim’s visit includes:

• Discussion: 4:45-5:45 pm, Room 201, Crabbe Library.

• Dinner: 6:00-7:15 pm, Faculty Dining Room, Powell Building.

• Lecture and Q&A: 7:30-9:00 pm, O’Donnell Hall, SSB.

• Book Signing: 9:00-9:30 pm, O’Donnell Hall, SSB.

Free and open to the public, the above events are sponsored by the EKU Cultural Center and the Office of Student Life.

Attendance slips will be available.

Graduate students from all programs are invited to display posters describing their research activities. Posters presented at previous meetings are eligible. For more details contact Charles.Elliott@eku.edu no later than January 25, 2013.

Members of the EKU community are invited to bring and present works of creative writing in an open mic format. While presentations are limited to 7 minutes per work, participants are welcome to present multiple pieces.

The Department of Graduate Education and Research is accepting applications for an Institutional or Federal Work study student worker for the spring 2012 semester.

This position involves tasks such as answering phones, taking messages, making copies, filing, and other clerical duties as assigned. The student must also provide assistance to students, staff, and faculty and will be required to run miscellaneous campus errands. Pay is $7.25/hour, approximately 15 hours per week.
