We will also discuss other upcoming events including the Southeast Wildlife Conclave, the state wildlife meeting, and volunteer events.

Seniors - Apply before February 14th if you are planning to student teach in August 2013. You must meet with your advisor and complete the application on EKUDirect which is located under "S" on the EKU eforms tab. Also, a background check, medical physical, and a TB risk assessment has to be completed and forms returned to Combs 424 by MARCH 15 to be in compliance for student teaching.

Stop by Powell Corner this week between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to buy tickets for Jock N' Roll, an all-EKU-athlete talent show that will be held in Brock Auditorium on Feb. 12th at 9pm. All proceeds go toward sending four EKU military veterans to the OVC basketball tournament in March as part of the Hoops for Heroes project.

Tickets may also be purchased in the Bratzke Center, located in Alumni Coliseum RM 103 at anytime before the event.

Donations are welcome as well!

Are you wondering how to spend your spring break this year? Are you wanting to go to the beach and have a great week meeting some new people, all while on a service trip?

Join us during spring break in Charleston, SC for a week of fun with Habitat for Humanity, in their mission towards affordable housing. No prior knowledge needed, you will be shown how to do anything needed to build the Habitat House.

The $235.00 fee covers lodging, travel, and food for the week.

Seniors/Student Teacher Candidates! If you anticipate Student Teaching in August 2013, you must apply through EKU Direct for student teaching. In order to access the student teacher application, log into your EKU Direct, Click on the tab "eforms" and scroll down to the student teacher application. Also, remember to meet with your advisor and ensure that you are eligible to student teach this fall. The application will only be open February 1-15, 2013.

The Society for Advancement of Management will be having their first meeting for the semester on Monday, February 4 at 4:45pm in Room 202 of the Business & Tech Building. SAM is open to all EKU students with an interest in management.

Guest speaker, Mr. Josh Salyer, PHR, will be coming to speak with us about his experience in the field of management. He is currently the Human Resource Supervisor for NACCO Materials Handling Group located in Berea, KY. NACCO was recently honored with the title of Top Plant in the nation for 2011 and Mr. Salyer was a great contributing factor in winning this award.

Through open, nonpartisan discussions and events The Political Science Club wants to help bring awareness and education about politics, government, and current events to Eastern Kentucky University. Anyone can join, no matter what political affiliation or ideology you possess.

The Political Science Club will have its next meeting on Monday, Feb. 4 at 5 p.m. in the McCreary Student Lounge. We will be discussing the happenings in the U.S. and around the world, and we will be putting the final details on our first debate event! We hope to see you there!

This webinar is for students interested in finding and applying for federal internships and jobs, as well as those advisors looking for more information about federal opportunities to share with their students. During this session, we will highlight a number of exciting internships and jobs across government, and show your students how to research, find and apply for an internship or job that is right for them.

The Recreation and Park Administration is proud to offer REC 101 - Leisure Service Careers as an online course offered February 18th - March 29th. REC 101 is an introduction to the broad scope of careers and employment in recreation, parks, and leisure service organizations. For more information, please consult your academic adviser.

It's time once again to sign-up for our annual summer service trip to New Orleans brought to you by The Office of Community Service and the co-ed service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. The trip will begin on Sunday, May 12th and will return on Sunday, May 19th. We will be working with the St. Bernard Project to restore homes from the damage of Hurricane Katrina. The total cost of the trip will be $315 per person (this includes most meals, van costs, and lodging).

Register online today for our annual Texas Hold'Em tournament at the Fitness & Wellness Center. Registration is open to the first 24 participants. The tournament will be held on Wednesday, February 13 from 6pm-11pm.

This is a non-gambling event, so no money will be wagered. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place contestants.

An Oxford-style debate will examine the topic of reparations for slavery in the United States. The debate is part of EKU's year-long observance of the Civil War. Participants in the debate, all members of the EKU faculty, will be Dr. Mike Austin, Dr. Gregg Gunderson, and Dr. Laura Newhart. The moderator will be Dr. Patrick Nnoromele. Proof of attendance sheets will be available at the event for instructors wishing to give credit for attendance. Free and open to the public, the event is sponsored by EKU's African/African-American Studies Program and Department of Philosophy and Religion.
