The Department of Occupational Therapy invites you to the Fourth Annual EKU Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science Research Day, November 13, 2009.

The event will begin at 8:15 AM in Clark Auditorium (Wallace Building Room 147) with the keynote address by Pollie Price, PhD, OTR/L, speaking on How Occupation Emerges in the Therapy Process.

Following Dr. Price's Keynote speech, participants will go to the Dizney Building for a presentation of papers, posters and panels by students in the Occupational Science undergraduate program, Occupational Therapy master’s program and the Rehabilitation Sciences doctoral program.

EKU Adventure Programs is happy to announce that we will be offering the National Outdoor Leadership School's Wilderness Medicine Institute Wilderness First Aid certification November 20-22. This course will be merely a weekend in length and taught in partnership with Landmark Learning of Cullowhee, North Carolina. Course instruction will take place at EKU's Maywoods Natural Area and cost $165 for EKU students, faculty, and staff, to include tuition and lodging.

This course is a great opportunity for those wishing to develop themselves in the field of backcountry medicine or anyone considering a career in the outdoors (Forestry, Fish & Wildlife, Tourism, Recreation & Parks). The EKU McNair Scholars Program is recruiting academically talented students aiming for a doctorate degree. Program activities include faculty mentoring, a fall colloquium, a spring research class, a paid summer-long research internship, presentations at national conferences, intensive GRE preparation, graduate school application support, graduate school application fee waivers, an EKU scholarship, and graduate level assistantships and fellowships at leading universities. All activity and conference travel expenses paid by the program. Students must be from low-income and first-generation backgrounds and / or African-American, Hispanic, Native-American or Pacific Islander.
