History Professor Honored for Article

Dr. Robert Weise, associate professor in Eastern Kentucky University’s Department of History, has received the 32nd annual Richard H. Collins Award from the Kentucky Historical Association.

EKU, Madison Co. Schools Join Forces to Establish Middle College

Eastern Kentucky University and Madison County Schools have joined forces to become the first local school district and four-year university in the Commonwealth to offer a Middle College to help high school juniors and seniors who are academically capable but at risk of dropping out of school.

Graduate Receives National Science Foundation Research Fellowship

A May 2011 graduate at Eastern Kentucky University has received a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.

Jessica Pulliam, who received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and was recognized as an Honors Scholar, will pursue a doctoral degree in sociology at Florida International University in Miami, beginning this fall.

Ten Faculty Members Receive Critical Thinking Teacher of the Year Awards

Ten Eastern Kentucky University faculty members were presented the University’s first Critical Thinking Teacher of the Year awards during a May 3 ceremony.

The awards program, developed by the Office of Quality Enhancement Programs, recognizes outstanding faculty members who have had an effect on developing their students’ critical and creative thinking skills.
