Eastern Ky. Math Teachers' Circle Invited to Present at Smithsonian

The Eastern Kentucky Math Teachers’ Circle, established last year at Eastern Kentucky University, has been invited to make a presentation at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. in April as part of the national exhibit, MathAlive, and the Circle on the Road Workshop.

Pershing Rifles Capture National Championship

Eastern Kentucky University’s Company R-1 of the National Society of Pershing Rifles earned another national championship at the Pershing Rifle National Convention and Alumni Reunion competition at the 5th Regiment Armory in Baltimore.

Sons Named Director of Educational Talent Search

Longtime Eastern Kentucky University staff member Lisa Sons has been named director of the Educational Talent Search program hosted at EKU.

Sons, who joined the EKU staff in 2002 as educational coordinator with ETS, has served as interim assistant director for the EKU Upward Bound Program since September 2011.

Business Professor Receives Two Outstanding Educator Awards

Dr. Marcel Robles, professor of corporate communication in Eastern Kentucky University’s Department of Management, Marketing and International Business, received two 2012 Outstanding Educator Awards at the Federation of Business Disciplines (FBD) Conference, held in New Orleans Feb. 29-March 3.

EKU Earns Two Awards in National Advertising Competition

Eastern Kentucky University has received two awards in Higher Education Marketing Report’s 27th annual Educational Advertising Awards competition.

A University billboard campaign received a bronze award and the EKU website was recognized with a merit award.

Students Provide Volunteer Service in Alternative Spring Break Activities

While most Eastern Kentucky University students enjoyed a restful break from classes during Spring Break March 5-9, some students spent their time volunteering through EKU’s Alternative Spring Break Program in various locales from New York City to New Orleans, from Myrtle Beach, S.C. to Kansas City, Kan.
