Communications & Brand Management 5 Migration and Maintenance 5 Websites Redesign and Maintenance FAQ

Websites Redesign and Maintenance FAQ

What is the project timeline?
This multi-phased project is complex and will span years. Refer to our Progress Dashboard for the most up-to-date information.

Will my unit’s website be part of the new EKU sites?
All sites will be affected with the exception of [INSERT AUXILIARIES]. If you have a question about whether your site is included, contact us.

What are the advantages of using WordPress for new EKU sites instead of Drupal?
The version of Drupal, the content management system (CMS) many EKU websites still use, is no longer supported. WordPress has many benefits: it’s easier to use and customize; it’s more secure; it meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) international standards; it uses responsive design, and it’s mobile and search engine optimized.

Can our unit’s website content automatically transfer to WordPress?
No, it’s not possible to use an automated process to transfer content because your new site will include design elements and functionality that do not exist without migration into WordPress. The EKU Web Team will provide support throughout migration and launch of your new site to make the process as smooth as possible.

Will you provide training to learn how to use WordPress?
Yes. CBM provides robust training and resources so you will be able to maintain your new site.

What happens if my website does not have a content strategist assigned to make updates?
You must contact Communications and Brand Management (CBM) immediately if you do not have a dedicated web content strategist. Then, working with stakeholders in your unit, please assign an individual who can be relied upon to fulfill this duty. Sites that do not have dedicated content strategists will be terminated.

I would like to redesign my site before the end of the current year. What should I do?
If you’re planning to redesign your website or create a new one, we strongly encourage you to postpone your project and work with the CBM Web Team to meet your short-term needs. If you undertake major design or branding work now, it may have to be revised during migration to your new site.

Will our website links change?
Yes. The CBM Web Team will ensure your old links are redirected to your new website.
