Wow – have we got a cool class to tell you about for October! Professor Maggie Frozena tells us a bit about ENG 200/AFA 247 The Rhetoric of Hip Hop.
What’s the “scoop” on the class (what’s it about)?:
This is a semester long discussion on how hip hop artists use the texts they create to connect with a specific audience
Why is this class so cool?:
This class is almost 100% student created. Students select the content, develop the assignments, and decide on how they are going to be graded. Our “final exam” is a hip hop block party on campus at the end of the semester!
What do the students have to say?:
Students enjoyed having a class where they had control over the content. And we all really enjoyed getting to listen to REALLY LOUD JAMS for class!
Know a student who might want to take this course?
