Graduate School 5 Graduation Guide

Graduation Guide

Degree Audit Using Degreeworks Guide

When an advisor receives notification that a student has applied for graduation, the advisor should log into EKU DegreeWorks and confirm that all course requirements have been met or are in progress. The advisor should contact the Graduate School if there are any discrepancies or unmet program requirements. The advisor should also verify that the student has registered for the appropriate Comprehensive Examination(s).

Comprehensive Examinations

Effective Fall 2010, students will register for the Comprehensive Examinations through the appropriate GRD 8X7z/8X8z course(s). The X designates the appropriate exam for the College (e.g. students in the College of Arts and Sciences will register for GRD 857, Business & Technology, 867, etc.) and the z will be assigned to an individual graduate program. The appropriate Comprehensive Examination requirements for the program will be clearly indicated in the student’s DegreeWorks record. Students may register for the appropriate Comprehensive Examination through the normal course registration process. Similarly, results of the Comprehensive Examinations will be posted through the submission of an appropriate grade (S, U, IP) by the student’s graduate advisor.

Late Charges and Application Fee

All students who apply for graduation by the posted deadline are assessed a $55 graduation fee. This fee must be paid or billed to the student’s account before the application can be processed by the Graduate School. The Graduate School continues to receive a large number of applications after the posted deadline. To reduce this number and permit more effective processing of applications, an additional late charge of $50, for a total of $105, will be assessed to any applicant who applies after the posted deadline but prior to the middle of the term in which the student intends to graduate. Applications received after the mid-term deadline will be assessed an late charge of $100 for a total amount of $155.

Any student may choose to avoid payment of late charges by notifying the Graduate School and postponing their graduation until the following term.

Additional Information

Faculty, advisors, and graduate program coordinators may contact the graduate department if they have questions about the graduation process or to address any issues with regard to particular applicants.
