Concert Choir to Perform in Ireland
Forty-one Eastern Kentucky University students will soon become musical “ambassadors” to Ireland.
The EKU Concert Choir will depart May 18 for a week-long tour of the Emerald Isle. While there, the young musicians will perform in Killarney, Kilkenny and Dublin and enjoy sightseeing trips to several iconic landmarks, such as the Blarney Castle and Stone.
“This trip will provide our students with an educational and musical experience that they will cherish forever,” said Dr. Richard Waters, director of choral activities at EKU. “We recognize and embrace our role as representatives and ambassadors for the University, the community of Richmond, and the state of Kentucky whenever we go on tour.”
The choir will give a preview of its Ireland program at a free concert on Sunday, April 26, at 5 p.m. at the EKU Center for the Arts. The public is welcome.
