Concert Raises Funds for Music Scholarships
An upcoming concert at Eastern Kentucky University will showcase more than a dozen student and faculty music ensembles and raise funds for scholarships to assist future generations of EKU students.
The Department of Music’s annual PRISM concert, on Saturday, March 21, at the EKU Center for the Arts will feature the EKU Symphony Orchestra, University Singers, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Drum Band, Opera Workshop, Guitar Ensemble, Trombone Ensemble, Trumpet Ensemble, Flute Ensemble and various faculty groups. All revenue will go toward the Department’s Scholarship Fund.
The event will begin at 7:30 p.m., with a silent auction beginning at 6:30 p.m., when the doors open. Tickets ($15, general admission; $5, students and children under 12) are available through the Center for the Arts, online at ekucenter.com or by phone at 859-622-7469.
“The PRISM concert isn’t new but takes the place of the ‘Pops for Music Sake’ event that the Department of Music put on for years,” said Rob James, chair of the Department. “It’s an opportunity to see all of our most active performing ensembles while experiencing the wonders of the EKU Center for the Arts.”
The silent auction will feature music memorabilia, instruments, household items, art items and more.
Anyone who is unable to attend but would still like to make a donation to the Department of Music Scholarship Fund should call 859-622-3266 for more information.
