Theatre Summer Intensive Program Scheduled

Eastern Kentucky University’s Department of English and Theatre will offer its first Theatre Summer Intensive program July 13-18.

The program provides opportunities for high school students to attend classes, rehearsals and professional productions, as well as to develop their own showcase to be performed at the end of the week. Faculty and professional theatre artists will work directly with students during the week.

“We are so excited to be offering this opportunity as part of our outreach to the community,” Alana Ghent, director of EKU’s Theatre Program, said. “It will be a wonderful celebration of theatre in Kentucky. Working with professional guest artists, seeing great theatre, and working with our faculty is going to be a great immersion experience in a supportive environment. I am especially proud that qualifying students may be able to receive EKU academic credit at little or no cost (and be able) to take their acting skills to a whole new level.”

The Theatre Summer Intensive program is available as either a residential or commuter experience. Qualifying students may earn EKU course credit through the Dual Credit program.  Scholarship funds are available by application.
