Fall 2019 Commencement
Friday the 13th was anything but unlucky for #EKU’s newest graduates. Rather, Dec. 13 was the date their college journeys came to a successful end and the next stages of their lives, full of promise and purpose, began.
Thousands of Colonel family members and friends descended on Alumni Coliseum to celebrate Fall 2019 Commencement, cheering as their loved ones crossed the stage. The University conferred more than 1,400 degrees, including 105 associate’s degrees, 987 bachelor’s degrees, 19 doctoral degrees, 288 master’s degrees and 10 specialist degrees.
The day held special significance for the University as well. It was the last time EKU President Dr. Michael T. Benson would MC commencement, offering words of wisdom, shaking students’ hands and wishing them a warm congratulations. Earlier in the week, Benson announced he was stepping down to focus on authoring his next book. He became the 13th EKU President in 2013, and more than 27,000 degrees have been awarded during his tenure.
The Colonel Community wishes each new graduate the best and thanks President Benson for his dedicated service.
