The University Chemical Hygiene Plan
The Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) is an University wide plan. The CHP should assist and ensure employees are protected from physical and health hazards associated with hazardous chemicals. The CHP is required by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard 29 CFR 1910.1450, entitled “Occupational Exposures to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories,” often referred to as the Laboratory Standard. In addition, guidelines for the disposal of such hazardous waste have been developed to ensure a healthier environment.
