How can a cylinder look perfectly circular and yet appear square in the mirror? In this talk, we explore optical illusions created by Japanese mathematician Kokichi Sugihara. Beginning with a hands-on paper model, we will see how perspective can deceive the eye and how mathematics helps us uncover the structure behind these seemingly impossible objects.
