RSO Funding Procedures

I. Preface

Eastern Kentucky University values the contributions that registered student organizations (RSOs) can make to students’ overall development and aspires to provide an environment in which RSOs can operate and thrive. The RSO fund supports the work of EKU by allocating and distributing funds for the co-curricular and educational needs of EKU students.

II. Purpose & Jurisdiction

The purpose of the RSO fund allocation structure and process is to provide a meaningful format whereby student fees may be allocated to programs/travel of RSOs.

III. Organization Structure

Registered Student Organization (RSO) Approval Committee

  • The RSO Approval Committee that is responsible for approving new RSOs on campus will also be responsible for approving fund distribution. This committee is made up of staff from the Center for Student Involvement, Campus Recreation, Risk Management, and the EKU Police, as well as two student representatives from SGA.
  • Meetings are chaired by the position in the Center for Student Involvement who is responsible for RSO oversight (currently the Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life).
  • Meetings are held once a month at a time and in a place convenient for the committee.
  • Student members who are officers or members of RSOs requesting funds shall be ineligible to engage in oversight of this process for RSOs they are a member of.
