Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) welcomes Jordan Smith as associate vice president for public affairs. With almost two decades of experience, Smith brings extensive academic, public policy and business expertise to EKU.
“We are pleased to have Jordan Smith join our public affairs team at EKU,” said EKU President David McFaddin. “His expertise in higher education policy and his proven ability to build strong partnerships will be invaluable as we strengthen community and government relationships, expand our impact and relentlessly pursue our opportunity-focused mission.”
Smith previously served as assistant vice president of public affairs at Murray State University. He also taught as an adjunct instructor of political science. Prior to this role at Murray State, he was the governmental affairs manager for Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and worked in legislative affairs at the federal and state level.
“Jordan’s deep understanding of higher education and his extensive network across Kentucky and beyond will help EKU continue to innovate, fuel Kentucky’s workforce and enable our students to achieve their dreams,” said EKU Vice President of Public Affairs Amy Scarborough. “Jordan is perfectly positioned to support EKU’s research initiatives and efforts at the federal level, as well as state and local initiatives. Jordan’s assistance with EKU’s proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine will be instrumental in our future success.”
Smith started the position with EKU on Sept. 4.
“I am truly honored to join EKU and work alongside President McFaddin, Amy Scarborough, and the first-rate faculty, staff and students. President McFaddin is a tremendous advocate, not only for EKU, but for Eastern Kentucky and the entire Commonwealth. It’s a privilege to work with him and his team to help create even more opportunities for EKU and our students,” said Smith.
