Center for STEM Excellence

We partner with students and instructors to support excellence in STEM teaching and learning. All services are free to current EKU students learning in any STEM courses and programs. Our resources include drop-in learning (tutoring) and skill-building workshops in science, technology, engineering, and math courses.

Mission Statement
The Center for STEM Excellence initiatives exist to expand access to and support excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics teaching and learning experiences at EKU.

Vision
All EKU students will have the resources they need to excel in their STEM courses and programs and to become STEM-literate global citizens, equipped for excellence.

Student Outcomes

The Center for STEM Excellence will design, regularly offer, and regularly assess evidence-based initiatives for EKU students that support equitable, diverse and inclusive access to undergraduate STEM education and completion of STEM credentials.

Efforts aligned with this outcome include:

  • Bridge programs
  • Scholarships
  • Out-of-class experiences
  • Initiatives supporting math placement, readiness, and fluency

The Center for STEM Excellence will partner with instructors, departments, and programs to regularly offer evidence-based, high-quality co-curricular programs to support all students’ success in STEM courses and programs.

Efforts aligned with this outcome facilitated by student partners (Learning Assistants, Peer Leaders) include:

  • Drop-in learning
  • Skill-building workshops
  • Course-embedded partnerships with instructors

To support these efforts, the Center provides intensive training and professional development for all student partners supporting STEM courses and programs.
