Benefits Advisory Committee

Responsibilities
The Budget Advisory Committee is to provide a channel of communication between the Faculty Senate and the Administration on matters relating to the formulation of the University budget. The committee shall be available as an advisory agency to the President of the University in those matters relating to the budget-formulation process and will meet with the President at least once each semester to receive information about budgetary matters. The committee is encouraged to engage faculty, staff, and administrators across the University to identify cost reduction measures in a collaborative and open manner. The committee uses the following guiding principles when considering strategies to accomplish this task:

  • Protect students to the greatest extent possible, including scholarships, services, and programs
  • Consider high-impact practices for student learning and success
  • Support EKU’s strong academic programs with opportunity for growth
  • Shield the essential services identified by constituent groups, including Libraries, Tutoring Services, Student Employment, Information Technology, Registrar, e-Campus, and Public Safety

Responsibility Timeline

  • August – Elect a Budget Committee Chair/Co-chair and Committee Secretary and inform the Faculty Senate Chair and Secretary. The Chair also serves on the President’s Administrative Council.
  • September – Receive charges from Faculty Senate Chair (from Chair’s report or from Executive Committee’s Liaison to the Rules Committee). Then monthly accept additional charges as distributed.
  • Remainder of the academic year – Work on those charges
