Executive & Strategic Communications

The official voice of Eastern Kentucky University

The Office of Executive and Strategic Communications helps share the stories, achievements, and initiatives that advance Eastern Kentucky University’s mission and strategic priorities. Through executive communications, media relations and strategic messaging, we work to ensure EKU’s story is communicated clearly, consistently and effectively to internal and external audiences.

Working with Executive and Strategic Communications

The Office of Executive and Strategic Communications partners with units across the university to advance institutional priorities through strategic messaging, executive communications, media relations and internal communications. Whether you are planning a major announcement, seeking communications guidance, preparing for media engagement, or supporting a strategic initiative, our team is here to help.

Requests for support are submitted through the university’s project management system (Asana). After receiving your request, a member of our team will contact you to assess your communications needs and determine the appropriate level of support.

Depending on the scope and strategic importance of the project, we may schedule a planning meeting to discuss objectives, key audiences, messaging, timing, potential risks, communication channels and measures of success. This collaborative process helps ensure communications efforts align with university priorities and achieve the greatest impact.

Our typical workflow includes:

  • Communications Assessment
  • Audience and Message Development
  • Strategic Planning
  • Content Creation and Coordination
  • Review and Approval
  • Implementation
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
