Colonels for IX

Colonels for IX is a strictly volunteer-based program. You can volunteer to assist with as few or as many CIX events as you choose, and attendance at all CIX events is not required for participation in the program as a whole.

Students will assist OEO staff members in hosting Colonels for IX-specific events on campus that will promote a university culture shift toward personal responsibility, consent, increased situational awareness, healthy relationship-building, and how to access campus resources.

As a student volunteer, you will be provided with subject-specific training hosted by the Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX. Training opportunities may include, but are not limited to:

  • EKU Policy Basics on Harassment & Discrimination and Title IX
  • How and When Students Should Report to OEO
  • On Campus and Off Campus Resources
  • Responding to Policy Violation Disclosures from Your Peers
  • How to Serve as a Supportive Peer Advocate

We want you to get as much from the program as you give! Student volunteers will develop valuable transferable skills such as Effective Communication, Leadership, Active Listening, Confidence, Responsiveness, Public Speaking, and Teamwork that can be applied to other areas of their life, education, and future career fields.

Student volunteers can add their Colonels for IX Ambassador experience to their resume and can also count their participation toward service hours.
